WELBECK ABSENT IN DRAW AGAINST HAMMERS

Brighton and Hove Albion attacker Danny Welbeck was a major absentee for his team as they maintained their unbeaten run against West Ham United in the Premier League thanks to the late goal from Frenchman Neal Maupay.

Danny Welbeck has missed the majority of the season due to a hamstring injury and his influence in front of the opposition goal has been missed as the Seagulls continue to struggle to find the back of the net. He has been missing with the hamstring problem since the away win over newcomers Brentford. Danny Welbeck played 64 minutes of the game before he was subbed off forAlexis MacAllister as Brighton won all three points thanks to the lone goal from Belgian international Leandro Trossard. Brighton were able to beat the Bees 1-0 away from home courtesy the contribution from Trossard on the stroke of half-time.

For the West Ham United game, Brighton conceded the first goal of the match to midfielder Tomas Soucek off the assist from Pablo Fornals via a corner kick. The Czech Republic international was able to give his team a fantastic start in the fifth minute.

The Hammers thereafter held on to that early lead until one minute from full-time when French striker Maupay produced an overhead kick off the cross from Brighton substitute Tariq Lamptey to snatch a point for the Seagulls.

With the late goal, Brighton were able to maintain their unbeaten run against the Hammers. The Seagulls have not lost to West Ham United since they secured promotion to the Premier League in 2017. They have gone nine games without defeat to the London club since their promotion at the start of the 2017/18 season though the last six league meetings between the two clubs have ended in a draw. West Ham United had lost the first three Premier League encounters with Brighton before the run of draws started.
